Donors Express Desire to Make a Difference

Outgoing Interim President Hubert Grimes penned two heartfelt letters that were shared with the B-CU community. His I Leave You Love speech at Senior Consecration recalled the words penned in Dr. Mary McLeod Bethune's Last Will and Testament, as he encouraged graduates to lead with love as they embark on their futures beyond the university.

The other was a letter urging alumni and friends to share positive news about B-CU in light of ongoing unfavorable articles published by the local newspaper. Both were received by a Port Orange, Florida couple - Les and Judy Goldberg - who were so moved upon reading them, that they contacted the president.

The Goldbergs traveled to campus and met with Grimes, whereupon they presented a gift of $9,000, earmarked for the "We Are Our Answer" campaign, which funds campus operations.

"We are grateful for the philanthropy of new friends of the University and treasure the ongoing support of previous donors to B-CU," Grimes said.
