ASPIRE Camp Gives Students ‘Head Start’ on Next School Year

Students in grades 6-12 will receive help with study skills, math skills, language arts skills and team building and will take part in workshops, science and motivational activities, field trips and more during the ASPIRE Head Start Camp June 22 to July 23.


Alabama State University’s ASPIRE (Amazing Students Putting in Resilient Effort) Head Start Camp  gives Montgomery students in grades 6-12 a great opportunity this summer to start the upcoming school year strong.

The month-long camp will run June 22 through July 23 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays.
The camp will focus on helping students with study skills, math skills, language arts skills and team building and will feature workshops, motivational activities, special science activities, field trips and much more.
“Learning to manage all these areas will help students get a ‘Head Start’ on having a successful school experience,” said ASPIRE coordinator Cynthia Handy.
The classes will be taught by ASU students and community professionals.
Registration and Payment Information
The deadline to apply is June 1. To apply online, visit www.alasu.edu/ASPIREhttp://www.alasu.edu/ASPIRE.
Recommendations are needed if students are new to the ASPIRE program. Recommendation forms may be downloaded at the ASPIRE websitehttp://www.alasu.edu/ASPIRE. Completed forms should be scanned and emailed to cjhandy@alasu.edu or brought to Ralph D. Abernathy Hall, room 115. Parents will be notified by email of their child’s registration status.
The cost of the camp is $200 per student. Payments may be made in installments, but the full amount is due by June 1.
