CCC offering a wide variety of community classes to public

Coahoma Community College's Workforce Development Center is offering community classes this fall on a variety of subjects-from buying your first home to responding to medical emergencies at home and self-defense techniques for women.

Each month, a different class will be offered on a wide array of topics to satisfy the diverse interests of community members. CCC's Executive Director of Workforce Education Steven Jossell said it's all apart of Coahoma's continuous effort to strengthen its outreach capabilities and better serve the educational needs of citizens in Coahoma County and surrounding areas.

"Coahoma Community College's foundation is built upon the shoulders of the community," said Jossell. "Through cultural enrichment, Coahoma seeks to provide informative and resourceful community-oriented activities for any and all who desire."

The first class, "10 Ways to Prepare for Homeownership" will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 16, at CCC's Workforce Development Center located at 510 Sunbelt Drive in Clarkdale. The free class will be led by Jeffrey Gooden of Gooden Realty in Clarksdale, who will discuss several topics including developing a home wish list, determining what you can afford, mortgage qualification and getting pre-approved.

Future classes to be offered include "First Aide/CPR for Families" in October and "Self-defense for Women" in November. Dates and times for those classes will be released at a later date.
