SC State Board Approves $1M for need-based scholarships
In executive session during its meeting Tuesday, the SC State University Board of Trustees passed a motion to increase need-based scholarships by $1 million.

The funding will be used in order to enroll 550 additional students so that the total enrollment reflects the 2,650 students on which the 2015-2016 adjusted budget is based.
In making that budget decision, Trustee Chairman Charles S. Way Jr, said, "SC State University is indeed open for business."

Acting President Dr. W. Franklin Evans was grateful for this action, noting, "Our goal is to stabilize enrollment this year and begin to grow back to 3,500 students over the next five years."
