Subject: Registration Reminder: 1/24 Virtual Workshop on NSF CI Funding, for HBCUs, TCUs, and Other Under-Resourced MSIs (Part II)

Hello and Happy Friday,

You are receiving this note because you registered for our Workshop Part I in November 2023.  You may have already received a similar note this week through another email list so apologies for any duplications.  We just wanted to make sure that information about Part II is shared with everyone who may have an interest.

This is a reminder to registerhttps://zoom.us/meeting/register/tJYocOCvqTopGdQs_PrtENmcsv3v2xuhzOqO#/registration to join us for the second of a two-part workshop series about the National Science Foundation (NSF) Cyberinfrastructure (CI) Funding Programs. This workshop is targeted for representatives of Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), Tribal Colleges and Universities (TCUs), minority-serving institutions (MSIs), other under-resourced institutions, and their cyberinfrastructure collaborators.  The next workshop is scheduled for Wednesday, January 24th from 1:00-4:00 pm ET.  Please forward this reminder to those in your community whom you think may have an interest in joining us for this targeted workshop.

This workshop is designed for Campus IT Leaders, IT Staff, Faculty, and Administrators of HBCUs, TCUs, MSIs and other small institutions.  The goal of this workshop is to train target audience participants on relevant NSF CI funding programs, approaches to develop campus CI goals and strategies, important first steps and tools for grant proposal development, and identifying potential CI collaborators.  If you missed the first workshop and would like to attend the second one, don't worry. Materials from the first workshop are available herehttps://drive.google.com/drive/folders/19LUveUNIq44T5OQ1lWsP4YJPYm1ptRiy.  This workshop series is sponsored by the American Indian Higher Education Consortium (AIHEC)https://www.aihec.org/, the Minority Serving - Cyberinfrastructure Consortium (MS-CC)https://ms-cc.org/, and The Quilthttps://www.thequilt.net.

Based on survey responses from the first workshop, the agenda for the second workshop includes dedicated time for smaller group conversation, networking, and experience sharing during breakout groups.  Additionally, the survey responses indicated a strong interest in learning more about regional networks and their roles in collaborating with smaller institutions around cyberinfrastructure.  Our second set of breakouts for this workshop will be geographically focused with an introduction to and focus on regional networks.

Workshop II – Agenda Topics:

  1. Deeper dive into NSF Campus Cyberinfrastructure (CC*) program areas and CI-relevant tracks of the Tribal Colleges and Universities Program (TCUP)
  2. Breakout discussions by NSF program and area (e.g. TCUP, CC* Planning/CIRA, CC* Campus Networking, CC* Compute/Data), with experience-sharing by funded project representatives
  3. CC* Regional – program area requirements, components, REN support, and experience-sharing
  4. Breakout discussions for networking by geographic region and with RENs

Regards,
Jen
