North Carolina Central University News March 22, 2017 Business and NBA Executives To Address NCCU Students North Carolina Central University<http://www.nccu.edu/> (NCCU) School of Business<http://www.nccu.edu/sob> in partnership with NCCU's Office of Career Services and Outreach will welcome successful business executives and NCCU alumni Charles and Fred Whitfield back to campus on March 27. Charles Whitfield is a music executive and co-founder of Hidden Beach Records. The 1991 graduate managed artists and repertoire for Grammy-award winner Jill Scott's debut album "Who is Jill Scott," and subsequent albums "Beautifully Human" and "Words and Sounds." His career in the music industry has extended to executive roles at both CBS Radio and his current role in business development for the Beasley Media Group, an integrated marketing agency. He will speak to students about his career in the business aspect of the music industry at NCCU's School of Business, C.T. Willis Commerce Building on NCCU's campus at 1:30 p.m. Fred Whitfield earned a juris doctorate degree from NCCU School of Law in 1988. He currently serves as president, chief operating officer and alternate governor and minority owner of the Charlotte Hornets. In this role, Whitfield oversees all business operations for the Charlotte Hornets and Time Warner Cable Arena. Previously, he worked in the NBA. Most recently, he served as director of Business and Legal Affairs for the Jordan Brand. He will speak about his successful career in the NBA at NCCU's School of Law at 640 Nelson St. on NCCU's campus at 1:30 p.m. Following their speeches, they will take part in a fireside chat with students about the keys to career success at 3:45 p.m. in the H.M.
