Claflin University Feeds 92 Local Families through Food Donations This Thanksgiving
Thanksgiving is a time for everyone to give thanks for the blessings in their life. At Claflin University, the holiday is also a time to give back.
All Claflin University departments and organizations donated 94 decorative boxes containing items to make a Thanksgiving meal, such as ham, turkey, greens and dressing. The boxes provided 92 local families in need with a Thanksgiving meal.
"Every year, Claflin University demonstrates its commitment to valuing people during the Thanksgiving season by collecting food and donating a Thanksgiving meal for those in our community who are less fortunate. All of the University's departments and organizations are to be commended for making this Thanksgiving a memorable one for those families," President Dr. Henry N. Tisdale said.
The entire Claflin University family assembled for the annual Thanksgiving Dinner and Program on Monday, Nov. 19. The Rev. Larry D. McCutcheon, '72, served as the program's keynote speaker this year.
McCutcheon has pastored at churches across the state of South Carolina. He also served as the United Methodist Church's district superintendent for Charleston and was formerly chairman of the Bamberg County Council. He has pastored at Trinity for the past seven years.

In addition, he was chair of the Southeastern Jurisdictional District Superintendents Consultation of the UMC in 2002.
