Trisa Long Paschal Named Vice President for Institutional Advancement and University Relations
Clark Atlanta University (CAU) President Carlton E. Brown announced this week the appointment of Trisa Long Paschal to vice president for institutional advancement and university relations. Paschal joined CAU Feb. 3 as interim vice president for institutional advancement and university relations.
Brown said, "We are extremely pleased to name Ms. Paschal, a stellar career fundraiser, consummate development strategist and capacity-builder, to this important role. In her brief time at CAU, she has already made significant, positive changes to elevate and fortify our advancement initiatives. Her considerable experience in higher education, corporate and community partnerships, and donor strategy development will continue to serve us well, and we are enthusiastic about the future positioning of Clark Atlanta with regard to expanding the University's imprint in fundraising, marketing and cultivating deeper, broader relationships with key constituencies."
A native of Akon, Ohio, Paschal brings more than 25 years of experience with increasing responsibility in fund development and administration. She has successfully led a $115 million effort, with a career accomplishment of $250 million, to date.
"I am elated to be a part of the Clark Atlanta University community," Paschal said. "The history that undergirds this institution renders it a rich cord without which the American tapestry would be incomplete. That we are able to imbue students today with this tremendous legacy while equipping them to spark innovation, discovery and positive change worldwide, makes this a particularly special place and a very worthwhile investment."
Paschal began her career in 1988 as director of the annual fund and major gifts office at the University of Akron, where she received both the Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in education. From1993 to 2003, she served as associate vice president for institutional advancement and then vice president for institutional advancement at Spelman College, procuring more than $90 million in funding from campus-wide collaborations and an expanded constituency base. From 2004 to 2008, she served as director of enduring gifts for the Salvation Army USA, increasing funding by $4.5 million. She was director of alumni relations and development at Golden Key International Honour Society Inc., from 2010 to 2011, engaging two million alumni volunteers worldwide. Also, as an entrepreneur, she was development consultant at T. Paschal and Associates from 2012 to 2014, providing counsel and strategic planning to education and nonprofit clients. She is a member of Leadership Atlanta, Cobb County Board District 4 and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. She is married to Nelson Paschal.
Devin White, national president of the CAU Alumni Association, said, "In just a few months, Ms. Paschal has made an immediate impact at CAU. She has hit the ground running, with a tenacious engagement of both our alumni and business communities, building her platform through collaboration and execution. Her knowledge, skillset and talent have been quickly recognized, and we look forward to her continuing to cultivate relationships and partnerships to further advance the mission of our beloved Clark Atlanta University."
