Jackson State University News April 28, 2021 DREF welcomes JSU’s Snacks and Lewis as HBCU Student Ambassador and Mentor for R.A.P. sessions Delta Research and Educational Foundation (DREF) Research Matters for All of Us welcomes Thomas “Snacks” Lee and Dr. Monica Lewis, director of Athletic Development at Jackson State University to participate as student ambassador and mentor for the spring 2021 HBCU R.A.P. Sessions. The Delta Research and Educational Foundation (DREF), in collaboration with Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. (DST) and the National Council of Negro Women (NCNW), is conducting a national health initiative entitled “Research Matters: Creating Possibilities to Achieve Health and Wellness for All of Us.” The objectives are to engage, educate and introduce the opportunity for the enrollment of African Americans in the National Institutes of Health (NIH) All of Us national database. The ultimate goal is to improve health outcomes for underrepresented populations and to encourage HBCU communities to have meaningful conversations to establish the groundwork to improve the overall behavior, environment, lifestyle, perspective, health, and wellness of the underrepresented populations. Participating institutions include; Alcorn State University, Bennett College, Coahoma Community College, Coppin State University, Howard University, Jackson State University, Lincoln University (PA), North Carolina A&T State University, Saint Augustine University, Savannah State University, Texas Southern University, Tougaloo College, University of Arkansas Pine Bluff, Winston Salem State and University, Xavier University of Louisiana.
