Colleagues--

As many of you know, the UCLA Library Senior Fellows Program (“Senior Fellows”) has brought since its inception, theory, best practices, and administrative perspectives to bear on the critical issues confronting academic libraries and their parent institutions. With her announced retirement, I am privileged and pleased to be taking the program’s reins from Dr. Beverly Lynch, whose vision has done so much to shape the program during her 20-plus year tenure as its Director. With Beverly’s support and encouragement, I am excited to have the opportunity to apply my own insights to ensuring that the program’s curriculum remains relevant in today’s dynamic professional landscape.

In addition to providing a stimulating environment in which to discuss and debate the critical challenges facing academic libraries, Senior Fellows offers the promise of time for reflection—something that's increasingly hard to come by during the regular work week. And, it is a unique opportunity to become a part of a network of professional colleagues with whom to share ideas and experiences for years to come—a network well established in the profession. 120 library directors, including 59 sitting directors, are included amongst the more than 250 outstanding individuals who have participated in the program since it started in 1982.

I am now seeking nominations for the 2018 Library Senior Fellows program to be held August 10-29, 2018 at UCLA. Additional information can be found here: https://seniorfellows.library.ucla.edu/deadlines-application-and-fees

Won’t you please help me assemble the 2018 cohort by nominating staff and/or colleagues who, in your estimation, would benefit from and contribute to this august leadership development opportunity? Your nomination need only be brief: name, title, and institution of the nominee(s) are all I need. If you’ll send them to my Administrative Assistant Kathy Brown, copied hereon, we’ll take it from there. The deadline for nominations is EOD, 15 December 2017.

Many thanks in advance!

My best,

--Brian S.
