Florida A&M University News February 18, 2021 Five FAMU Students Awarded Dwight D. Eisenhower Transportation Fellowships Five Florida A&M University (FAMU) students have been awarded Dwight David Eisenhower Transportation fellowships from the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA). The Dwight David Eisenhower Transportation Fellowship Program awards fellowships to students pursuing degrees in transportation-related disciplines. This program advances the transportation workforce by helping to attract the nation's brightest minds to the field of transportation, encouraging future transportation professionals to seek advanced degrees, and helping to retain top talent in the U.S. transportation industry. For the past decade, the FAMU School of Architecture and Engineering Technology (SAET) Division of Engineering Technology has participated in the program. During that time, more than 30 undergraduate and graduate student fellows have received funding for research in the areas related to transportation. The five fellowship recipients were selected to present their research at the 100th Annual Transportation Research Board meeting, which attracted more than 20,000 attendees worldwide. FAMU 2020-2021 Fellows Johnathan Bailey of Tallahassee is a master's student in the School of Business and Industry and earned his bachelor's in electronic engineering technology. His research is on "Fuel Efficiency in Motor Vehicles." Nancy Joseph of Opa Locka, Florida, is a doctoral student in the FAMU-FSU College of Engineering who earned her bachelor's degree in electrical engineering. Her research is on "Impact of COVID -19 on the Mobility of the Elderly Population in Leon County." Rameau Morency of Boynton Beach, Florida, is a senior in the SAET's Construction Engineering Technology Program. His research is on "Alternative Fuel for Transportation.". Brandon Graham of Memphis, Tennessee, is a senior in the SAET's electronic engineering technology program. His research is on "Smart Car Seat To Prevent Heat Related Death of Children Left Alone Inside Cars." Roodson Pierre of Winter Haven, Florida, is a senior in the SAET's construction engineering technology program.
