Tuskegee University News June 5, 2011 Chief information officer retires from Tuskegee University; Rochon appoints interim officer TUSKEGEE, Ala. (June 2, 2011) - Tuskegee University's chief information officer, Alfred Bryan has retired from Tuskegee University. In the role, his responsibilities included overseeing network and enterprise applications, the telephone system, customer response system, television system, computer repair program, audio systems and e-learning. President Gilbert L. Rochon appointed Fred Judkins, network security analyst, as the interim CIO. Bryan, who received his bachelor's degree from Howard University (Washington, D.C.) and Troy University (Alabama), began his tenure at Tuskegee in 2006. Under his leadership, staff in the Office of Campus Technology accomplished a variety of technological advances to better serve the university and its constituents. Among the products are: online registration; wireless Internet in the resident halls and academic buildings; e-learning initiation; smart room deployment; Tiger Alert rapid notification system initiation; initiation of camera surveillance, access control and intrusion control security systems; implementation of Web adviser; conversion to MyTU email; and implementation of correspondence management for the Office of Admissions and Enrollment Management, a system that assists in the management of communications with candidates/applications. Judkins has worked at Tuskegee since 2007. Among his most recent duties he has: monitored the university server; remotely supported over 4,000 users; researched, developed, designed and implemented all new operating and applications systems; provided 24-hour network support; and provided in-house support of software packages, operating systems, connections and more. He also was the project lead during a major upgrade for the Kellogg Hotel and Conference Center on campus. Judkins has a bachelor's degree in computer science from Southern Technical College (Montgomery, Ala.). Prior to beginning his tenure at Tuskegee, he worked with Colonial Bank, Regions Bank and Gunter Air Force Base. He is certified in several areas of technology. SANDRA M.
