WVSU Creators Program Hosts Graphic Design Workshop Series

West Virginia State University's (WVSU) Creators Program will offer a series of workshops for graphic designers beginning Saturday, July 16, at the WVSU Economic Development Center (EDC) in Charleston.

The hands-on series will introduce the basics of Adobe Photoshop (July 16), Adobe Illustrator (July 23) and Adobe InDesign (July 30). Each session will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

"Participants will learn to produce creative and practical documents such as posters, fliers and newsletters in a hands-on setting," said Brenda Pinnell, who will lead the workshops. Pinnell is owner of HepCatz Design in Charleston. "We'll cover tools, shapes, colors, layers, effects and how to work with type in each program."

The Creators Program launched in 2012 as a series of community workshops for all levels focusing on skills and knowledge essential to creating for mass media and art. WVSU partners with the West Virginia Economic Development Council and the West Virginia Film Office on the series.

Each workshop in the series costs $20. WVSU students with valid ID receive free admission. Space is limited for the event, and registration is required. To register, visit wvsuedc.org/creatorshttp://www.wvsuedc.org/#!creators/csyp.

The WVSU EDC is located at 1506 Kanawha Blvd. W. in Charleston.
