The Black Collegiate Gaming Association (BCGA) Founder, Keisha Walker, was quoted by Sarafina Wright of the Washington Informer as saying, "73 percent of African Americans ages 13 years or older identify themselves as gamers. Yet, only 3 percent of those working in the gaming industry are Black and a mere 1 percent are professional gamers. Those numbers just don't add up."

The Black Collegiate Gaming Association (BCGA) is a multi-faceted organization offering networking opportunities, ESports tournaments, scholarships, incentives, and support to HBCUs wanting to invest in assisting their students with pursuing careers in the gaming industry.

This past Saturday (February 25, 2023), Tougaloo ESports was invited by Jackson State University ESports to participate in Black College Con to network and compete.
