Allen University News September 1, 2015 The Allen University Pre-Alumni Council presents The “Male Leadership Empowerment Symposium” – Stepping out of the shadows and moving into leadership Allen University’s Pre-Alumni Council will be hosting their 1st Male Leadership Empowerment Symposium in collaboration with the City of Columbia Police Department, Black Men’s Health Initiative, YNotU2 Inc., Listen 365, and many more local organizations. The symposium will be held on Thursday, September 3, 2015 at 6:30pm in the John Hurst Adams Gymnatorium - Student Activity Center, 1517 Pine Street, Columbia, South Carolina. This symposium will cover diverse topics such as leadership, best practices when encountering law enforcement, preventing acts of violence, understanding health disparities, mentoring programs, entrepreneurial practices, and career exploration. The featured panelist include: Pastor Aaron Bishop, Grace Christian Church; Isaac Wilson, Listen 365; Reverend Effson Bryant, Youngs Chapel A.M.E. Church; William Robinson, Black Men’s Health Initiative; Dion Bethea, Head Boys Basketball Coach at Gray Collegiate Academy; Melron Kelly, Deputy Chief of City of Columbia Police Department; Kimani Davis, YNotU2 Inc.; and William Smith, Sr., EXIT Real Estate. Each presenter will share strategies required of males on their journey to becoming amazing self-leaders in the greater Columbia area and within the State of South Carolina.
