Savannah State University Technical Services Librarian/Instructor - Position Information

Working Title: Technical Services Librarian/Instructor

Job Summary: Savannah State University seeks qualified applicants for Technical Services Librarian/Instructor of Library Science. This is a faculty rank, 12 month position which updates and enhances the webpage and has overall responsibility for the web presence; manages subscriptions to online and print resources, department liaison responsibilities, reference, and instruction services. Fosters and enhances communication with the library's major stakeholders, implements plans and technology to improve access to resources; provides support for all systems as well as support for the educational goals of the institution and Library. Aides each department in the Library by creating and supporting tools for unit functions. Maintains access to resources for students, faculty and staff; creates and implements database driven applications. Ensures correct functioning of onsite technology, computers, servers, databases, and software. Provides bibliographic instruction classes; ensures maintenance of periodicals collection. Provides reference services to students, faculty and staff; participates actively in local, state and national library organizations. Some nights and weekends required. May be directed to perform job related tasks other than those specifically delineated in this description. Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience; competitive benefits program.

Minimum Qualifications: Master's degree (ALA accredited program); proficient in (X)HTML,CSS, Javascript, SQL, and PHP, familiar with usability and web standards, Relational Databases and library automation systems (especially Alma). Knowledge of Windows and Linux operating systems; excellent communication skills. Ability to maintain effective working relationships with university administrators, faculty, staff, students, and the extended community; experience in educational media, instructional technology, automated systems, distance learning, and library media. Background and/or credit check may be required.
