Greetings Colleagues,

I trust you're well.  Today I'm celebrating Matilda Arabella Evans, who graduated in 1897 from the Woman's Medical College of Pennsylvania, and became the first African American woman licensed to practice medicine in South Carolina. She also founded the Columbia Clinic Association, which provided health services and health education to families. Evans extended the program when she established the Negro Health Association of South Carolina, to educate families throughout the state on proper health care procedures.

6th Membership Meeting

The Membership Meeting is scheduled Sunday through Tuesday, October 26-28 at the Hilton Garden Inn Downtown Atlanta.  If you haven't done so, paste this link http://www.hbculibraries.org/html/2014meeting-form.html into your address bar and register. Consider, if applicable, using end-of-year funds or Title 111 funds for Membership Meeting fees. Show your support of the 6th Membership Meeting by registering as soon as possible.

Decade of Investment Strategy

As part of the Alliance's One Hundred Plan fundraiser, I encourage you to renew your support through the Decade of Investment strategy.  As you recall, the goal of this strategy is to raise a minimum of $30,000 over a three year period.  If you haven't done so, paste this link http://www.hbculibraries.org/html/paypal.html into your address bar to make your contribution.  Each contribution will be acknowledged at the October Membership Meeting and listed in the program booklet. If you are contributing by check, mail to my attention at:
