STUDENTS TO SPEND SPRING BREAK LEARNING HAITIAN CULTURE

Jefferson City, MO- Students from Lincoln University will have some time away from classes during the week of March 13, but that does not mean the learning stops over Spring Break.  A dozen students will travel to Haiti as part of the Alternative Spring Break Abroad.  Departing on Sunday, March 12, students will spend the week visiting historic sites, completing community service and experiencing Haitian culture.  The group will also have lessons in Kreyol or Haitian Creole, one of the two recognized languages spoken in the Republic of Haiti (the second being French).

The 12 students who will travel as part of the Alternative Spring Break Abroad were selected from a pool of 90 applicants. Lincoln University's Dr. Jabulani Beza International Student Center informs students of and assists students with preparation for study abroad opportunities. The center, under the direction of Coordinator Duwon Clark, focuses on the importance of global citizenship by immersing students in engaging educational experiences.
