Greetings Colleagues,

I trust you're well.  Today I'm celebrating Maggie Lena Walker, born in 1867 in Richmond, Virginia. Walker became a noted businesswoman, civil leader, and founder and president of Saint Luke Penny Savings Bank.

Mission/Vision Statement and Slogan
The Board of Directors is requesting your input in updating the Mission/Vision statement and creating a slogan.

The current statements are:

Mission:  The HBCU Library Alliance is a consortium that promotes the collaboration of information professionals and excellence in library leadership and services to enhance member resources and programs.

Vision: The HBCU Library Alliance will be the leader in preserving the promoting the history and missions of the White House-designated Historically Black Colleges and their libraries.

The proposed statements are:

Mission Statement: The HBCU Library Alliance serves to strengthen its member libraries through leadership development, outstanding programs and activities.

Vision Statement: The HBCU Library Alliance will advance the missions of historically black colleges and universities by providing excellent services and resources through its member libraries.

Slogan: Preserving the Past: Transforming for Tomorrow
