ASU to Celebrate 118th Founders' Week
Read and Rise, a Community College Tour and the annual Founders' Day Convocation are part of the upcoming celebration of Alabama State University's 118th Founders' Week.

Alabama State University will celebrate its annual Founders' Week Feb. 6 - 9, 2018. The celebration will include a Read and Rise citywide reading initiative; the Marion 9 Community College Tour, which takes Hornet Nation on the road to visit community colleges across the state of Alabama; a Celebration of Service, which pays tribute to ASU's presidents and icons; and the 118th Founders' Day Convocation.
The annual Founders' Day Convocation will be held on Friday, Feb. 9, 2018 at the Dunn-Oliver Acadome. Thomas W. Dortch, Chairman of the Board of 100 Black Men of America, Inc., will be the featured speaker.
Recipients of the Spirit of Marion and Spirit of Tullibody Awards also will be recognized during the event. These two awards honor the memories of William Burns Paterson, one of ASU's longest-serving presidents, and the group known as the Marion Nine, who co-founded a pioneer educational institution that evolved into what is now Alabama State University.
The convocation will be broadcast live on Facebook at Hornet Nation LIVE!
