FAMU Hosts 2013 State of the Student Summit Sept. 28

Florida A&M University's (FAMU) Student Government Association and the Office of the President present the 2013 State of the Student Summit moderated by news analyst Roland Martin on Saturday, Sept. 28th from 2 - 6 p.m. in the Al Lawson Jr. Multipurpose Center, 1800 Wahnish Way, Tallahassee, Fla. 32307. Doors open at 1:30 p.m.

The theme of the free community event is "Race, Religion and The Reality of Tomorrow." A panel of experts will engage in an honest conversation on the three subjects referencing today's current events as a foundation of where the nation stands and where the nation still needs to go.

Martin is a nationally syndicated columnist with Creators Syndicate, and is senior analyst for the Tom Joyner Morning Show, where his daily segment is heard on more than 100 stations and 8 million people daily. He is the author of three books: Listening to the Spirit Within: 50 Perspectives on Faith; Speak, Brother! A Black Man's View of America; and The First: President Barack Obama's Road to the White House as originally reported by Roland S. Martin.

He has contributed to several others, including Paradox of Loyalty: An African American Response to the War on Terrorism by Julianne Malveaux; Black Woman Redefined: Dispelling Myths and Discovering Fulfillment in the Age of Michelle Obama by Sophia Nelson; and Fatherhood: Rising to the Ultimate Challenge by Etan Thomas and Nick Chiles.

Martin is chief political editor for TV One Cable Network and host and managing editor of "Washington Watch with Roland Martin."
