POSITION NUMBER:      FA561

HIRING SALARY RANGE: Salary will be commensurate with education and experience

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  This position reports to the University Archivist in the special Collections and Archives Department of the University Library.  Under the direction of the University Archivist, this position will assist with all aspects of archival operations to include:  processing collections and material for the department; implementing digital technologies, preparing finding aids; expanding departmental presence on the web; preparing exhibits; assisting with research and reference demands; and, managing operations in the absence of the Archivist.  The position will also require the supervision and training of student assistants.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:  Master's degree in Library/Information Science from an ALA-accredited program or MA in History is required.  Coursework or equivalent work experience in archival and/or records management and current advances in electronic information storage technology is required.  Some knowledge of archival principles and methodology required. Knowledge of preservation and conservation practices required.  Demonstrated working knowledge of EAD, digitization technology, and content management programs is required.  Proficiency in MS Office Suite applications, Archivist Toolkit, CONTENTdm or other content management software is required.  Excellent organizational skills required.  Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing is required.  Excellent interpersonal skills with a strong focus on service orientation are required.  Experience in special collections or archives in a university or research library are preferred.
