ASU Assistant Professor Receives Millennial Award

ASU Assistant Professor Yvette Holmes was recently honored as a recipient of a national award that recognizes millennial "influencers."

Dr. Yvette Holmes, an assistant professor of marketing at Alabama State University, is early in her academic career and has already distinguished herself as an innovative researcher, a creative member of the business community and an accomplished teacher and mentor. On January 9, she received the 2017 Top 35 Millennial Influencer of America award by the Next Big Thing Movement (NBTM).

The 35 award recipients are millennial influencers from around the U.S. working in technology, media, politics, education, finance, health, government, the Arts  and in other industries. Holmes was chosen based on her overall reach, influence and purposeful engagement by a cohort of judges including Dolvett Quince of The Biggest Loser; Ami Desai of Wealth TV and the Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN); and Liz Wahl, former correspondent on RT TV and featured on CNN, MSNBC, FOX News, Bloomberg, and Politico Magazine.

"I am excited to bring this honor to the academic community and to also inspire my students to consider careers and advanced study in business," Holmes said. "Together, with my new cohort of Millennial Influencers, we certainly have the tools to effect change on a global level."

As an assistant professor of marketing and a business strategy consultant, Holmes draws upon her business experience to design creative and innovative research on persuasion, predictors of sales outcomes and the complicated relationship between consumer relationship management and business success.

Holmes's research not only extends academic theory, but also enhances business practice. With more than 12 years of professional and academic experience, she relies on her extensive training in management, marketing and business administration to offer business development and strategic marketing consultative services to entrepreneurs. Her efforts are directed toward helping organizations thrive and adjust in the ever-changing business environment.

In the months to follow, Holmes and the 2017 Top 35 Millennial Influencer group will tour globally to expand their efforts to link millennial business leaders and professionals.

NBTM is a social networking platform for millennial, business professionals that connects more than 20,000 millennial business leaders under the age of 40, linking young professionals across the United States, and globally in the United Kingdom, Israel and Canada.
