Undergraduate and Graduate Degree Programs Offered Online at Bowie State

When students are accepted at Bowie State University, they can now enroll in online degree programs to earn their bachelor, master's or doctoral degrees beginning with the fall 2022 semester.

BSU students can pursue undergraduate degrees online in computer science, computer technology and criminal justice.  Graduate students can earn master's degrees online in computer science, culturally responsive teacher leadership, management information systems, reading education and a doctorate degree in educational leadership.

"Our fully online undergraduate degree programs are designed primarily to attract adults preparing to make career changes that will posture them for current and emerging jobs in the burgeoning computer science and technology fields," said Dr. Carl Goodman, provost and vice president of academic affairs at Bowie State. "Individuals who in the past were limited in their ability to earn a degree can now take courses at BSU from anywhere and graduate to fill cyber security positions in the public and private sectors. Students can also earn a criminal justice degree online which can be the impetus for law school or careers as a probation officer, community advocate or forensic scientist," said Goodman.

Three graduate education online degree programs build upon BSU's reputation as a leader in producing teachers and administrators to work in school systems in Maryland and across the nation. With an ongoing teacher shortage, BSU believes its online master's and doctoral programs will attract educators from local school systems and individuals from across the United States. The online master's degrees in computer science and management information systems also address the need that large and small organizations have for individuals to design and manage information systems.

"It's all about access and adapting to a changing higher education environment," said Goodman. "And this is just the beginning.  We'll be adding additional online degree programs for undergraduate and graduate students in the coming months and years to provide individuals who want to earn a degree from Bowie State the pathway to achieve their goal."
