Presentation at Kentucky State University to explore race-related trauma and its lasting effects

An upcoming presentation, as part of the Center for Research on the Eradication of Educational Disparities (CREED) Lecture Series at Kentucky State University, will feature discussion about race-related trauma and its lasting effects.

Dr. Steven D. Kniffley Jr., associate director for the Center for Behavioral Health at Spalding University and assistant professor in Spalding's School of Professional Psychology, is the speaker.

"Kniffley's area of expertise is research and clinical work with black males. Specifically, his work focuses on understanding and developing culturally appropriate interventions for black male psychopathology, as well as barriers to academic success for this population," according to the Spalding University website. Kniffley has written numerous books, book chapters, and articles on black male mental health, black males and the criminal justice system, and academic achievement.

Kniffley will speak Feb. 25 at 11 a.m. in the David H. Bradford Hall Little Theater. The event is free and open to the public.
