Fayetteville State University’s Office of College Access Programs Seeks to Fill National AmeriCorps VISTA Positions to Support Building a Vision for Future Generations
The Office of College Access Programs at Fayetteville State University is currently seeking to fill two AmeriCorps VISTA (Volunteers In Service To America) positions. The program is sponsored by the Corporation for National and Community Service’s (CNCS). The positions currently available are High School Specialisthttps://my.americorps.gov/mp/listing/viewListing.do?id=42566&fromSearch=true and Resource & Grants Specialisthttps://my.americorps.gov/mp/listing/viewListing.do?id=42567&fromSearch=true.
Beginning August 2016, AmeriCorps VISTA members will commit to serving full-time for one year.  In return for their service, the VISTA members will receive a modest living allowance and health benefits.  In addition, VISTA members have the option of receiving an Education Award ($5,730) or post-service stipend ($1,500) after completing their year of service.  According to Dr. Teresa Thompson-Pinckney, “Our team of AmeriCorps VISTA members are passionate and committed to their mission to bring individuals and communities out of poverty by helping us to support low-income and first-generation youth make the college dream a reality.  We are thankful for all of those who have served across the country to make a difference.”

The Office of College Access Programs, which is comprised of Talent Search, Upward Bound, Upward Bound Math & Science, and 21st Century Community Learning Centers, provides college preparatory and success services to students, parents, and educators in Cumberland, Hoke, and Robeson Counties.
