DROPPIN' KNOWLEDGE LECTURE SERIES RETURNS

Jefferson City, MO- Lincoln University's Droppin' Knowledge Lecture Series has returned for its sophomore year.  Janks Morton, author, educator and activist will kick off the 2015-2016 series season on Thursday, September 3. Morton uses music, film, traditional and alternative media to motivate his audience to solicit change in their lives and communities. The 6:30 p.m. lecture will be held in Dr. Thomas D. Pawley Theatre in Martin Luther King Hall, 812 E. Dunklin Street.  The event is free and open to the public.

The Droppin' Knowledge Lecture Series was initiated by Lincoln University Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs Dr. Said Sewell during the 2014-2015 academic year.  Sewell says series speakers such as Morton are an important component to the intellectual offerings of the university.

"The Droppin' Knowledge Lecture Series contributes to this mission by exposing the entire community of Lincoln University, as well as the citizens of Jefferson City to world-class public thinkers on an array of subjects. These lectures, such as the one featuring Janks Morton, provide a unique opportunity for student interactions, faculty discourse and community engagement," says Sewell.

The September 3 Droppin' Knowledge Lecture featuring Janks Morton is the first of four series offerings this semester. Future lectures are scheduled for September 17, October 8 and November 5.
