Commissioner of the Federal Communications Commission will speak at Lincoln University Energy Forum
The Honorable Mignon Clyburn, Commissioner of the Federal Communications Commission will speak at Lincoln University on April 13 at the Energy Forum. Commissioner Clyburn has a long history of public service and dedication to the public interest. Prior to her swearing in on August 3, 2009, Ms. Clyburn served for 11 years as the representative of South Carolina's sixth district on the Public Service Commission of South Carolina (PSC). She was sworn in for her first term in July 1998, and was subsequently reelected in 2002 and 2006. She served as chair of the PSC from July 2002 through June 2004. Commissioner Clyburn was elected to the South Carolina PSC following 14 years as the publisher and general manager of The Coastal Times, a Charleston-based weekly newspaper that focused primarily on issues affecting the African American community.
The Honorable Phil Moeller, Commissioner of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission and a host of other high profile CEOs as well as the President and CEO of the American Association of Blacks in Energy, the Honorable Arnetta McCray will be on hand to discuss with students and those from the community important issues facing the industry.
"We are extremely pleased and honored to host this event because these individuals will help our students to understand the kind of career opportunities and the qualities needed to obtain jobs in the industry," explained Dr. Robert Jennings, President of Lincoln University.
Other presenters will include Tim Smith, Region President of Verizon PA and DE; Kathy Pape, President of PA American Water Company; David Ellis, Senior Vice President of Comverge; Chris Womack, Executive Vice President of Southern Company; Ron Bradley, Vice President of PECO Gas; Lloyd Yates, President of Progress Carolinas; the Honorable Robert Powelson, Chairman of the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission; and the Honorable Wayne E. Gardner, Commissioner, Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission.
