ASU to Hold Casting Workshop with Movie, Television Industry Director

The Albany State University Speech and Theatre Division will present Casting Director Rhavynn Drummer at the Second Annual Casting Workshop, which will be held at 5 p.m. Thursday, March 5, in Hartnett Hall Room 111.

Drummer is an independent casting director, who is currently working with Tyler Perry Studios.  Her previous work includes the casting of actors and actresses for several movies including, "The Family that Preys," "Why Did I Get Married, Too?" and "The Marriage Counselor."

She was also responsible for casting several of Tyler Perry's television series including, "House of Payne," "Meet the Browns," "The Haves and Have Nots," and "Love Thy Neighbor."  Drummer is a 2007 graduate of the University of Virginia, with a double major in theatre and American studies. During her time at the university, she also started the Paul Robeson Players Theatre Company. She has participated in the casting of 12 feature films, five television series, and four theatrical productions, to date.

"At the last ASU Casting Workshop, Ms. Drummer provided tips regarding headshots, resumes, and audition preparation," said Florence Lyons, interim chair of the ASU Department of Fine Arts. "Three of our students were later asked to audition for the series 'The Have and Have Nots.' "

During this year's ASU workshop, Drummer will share acting techniques for television and screen. Admission is free and the public is invited to attend.
