Subject: [BCALA] Three Library Directorships

Hope all is well with you.  We have three great library directorships we're
working on and all three close in the next one to two weeks.  We're
contacting some of the ALA Council leadership trying to identify a few
additional candidates that may have interest in these positions.  Below is a
brief summary of the three jobs with complete details available on our
website http://www.gossagesager.com/currentclients.html.

The Des Moines Public Library Director reports to a five-member Library
Board of Trustees-appointed by the Mayor and confirmed by City Council-and
partners with city officials to achieve jointly held goals and objectives
for serving the community. The Library has an excellent reputation and Des
Moines is a hub of government, business, arts and cultural affairs and was
names by Kiplinger's as one of its Best Cities for 2010.  Serving a
population of nearly 200,000 with six facilities, including a 110,000 sq.
ft. central library and five branches, a dedicated staff of 73 FTE, and a
$7.2 million annual budget the Library loans more than 1.6 million items
annually. The position requires an MLS and a minimum of eight years of
progressively responsible experience in a multi-branch library and at least
five years of executive level experience as director of a library or deputy,
assistant, or associate director of a comparable or larger system.  See
http://www.gossagesager.com/dmplad.htm for details.  The starting salary
range of $110,000-130,000 and the deadline for applications is August 29.

At Kent District Library the Director reports to an eight-member Board of
Trustees serving a population of 365,000+ with 18 locations.  Kent County

Staff numbers 199.8 FTE, a $16 million annual budget and the Library loans
approximately 6.3 million items annually.  This position too requires an MLS
and a minimum of eight years of progressively responsible library experience
and at least five years in an administrative capacity.  For additional

St, Charles City-County Library District has an excellent reputation and
