Cheyney University to Host British Soccer Camp for 3 to 16 year olds July 11-15

Cheyney University will host the most popular soccer camp for youth in the nation July 11-15, rain or shine. Boys and girls ages 3 to 16 will have the opportunity to learn individual foot skills, fakes, moves and turns, freestyle soccer, technical and tactical instruction, small-sided games, and participate in daily World Cup style tournaments from an experienced British coaching staff. The camp, intended to help players improve their core techniques and become more confident with the ball, will be held on Cheyney's football fields in Cheyney, PA.

"Over the past 20 years, Challenger Sports British Soccer Camp's vast army of coaches has helped hundreds of thousands of boys and girls learn, improve, master and fall in love with the sport of soccer, explains Ian Edwards, the Camp Regional Director for PA. "Using an innovative curriculum that develops skills, speed and confidence in players of all ages and abilities, we provide boys and girls with the rare opportunity to receive high-level soccer coaching from a team of international experts right in the heart of their own community. We're the only soccer camp provider nationally to be accredited by the American Camp Association for the quality and safety of our programs."

In addition to teaching new skills and improving game performance, the camp provides character development and cultural education.

"World Cup style games are held each day where campers compete for their adopted country, learn about different cultures and customs, and our core values of respect, responsibility, integrity, sportsmanship and leadership," Edwards adds.

"We are thrilled to be able to offer such top-notch soccer skills to area youngsters," remarks Suzanne Kilian, Interim Athletic Director at Cheyney. "We're excited to open up the campus to the surrounding community and hope parents will consider signing their sons and daughters up for the five days."

Registration fees range from $142 to $248 depending on the camper's age and amount of time spent in camp. First Kicks Soccer for ages 3-4 is an hour per day, Mini Soccer for ages 4-6 is 90 minutes a day, a half day Player Development Camp for ages 6-16 is three hours daily, and full day Player Development camp for ages 7-16 is seven hour per day including lunch.
