HU Student Health Center Re-Accredited By COLA
The Hampton University Health Center met all criteria for laboratory re-accreditation by the Commission on Office Laboratory Accreditation (COLA), a national healthcare accreditation organization, as of May 20, 2016.
Accreditation is given only to laboratories that apply rigid standards of quality in day-to-day operations, demonstrate continued accuracy in the performance of proficiency testing, and pass a rigorous on-site laboratory survey.
"The HU Health Center earned its COLA accreditation as a result of the HU medical staff's long-term commitment to providing quality service to HU students and the campus community overall," said HU Health Center Medical Director, Karen T. Williams, M.D.
COLA is a nonprofit, physician-directed organization promoting quality and excellence in medicine and patient care through programs of voluntary education, achievement, and accreditation.
The HU Health Center provides outpatient health care for the entire HU campus. Health services are provided by a staff consisting of physicians, nurse practitioners, registered nurses, medical laboratory technicians and medical office personnel who are committed to maintaining a maximum level of wellness for each member of HU's community. The mission of the Health Center is to provide culturally competent quality health care, while promoting healthy lifestyles and behaviors through health promotion and disease prevention.
