Morehouse College March 14, 2017 Morehouse Business Students Embark on European Spring Tour Twelve Men of Morehouse are touring some of Europe's leading financial districts over spring break. The scholars were selected to study international business and finance in London and Berlin during an annual trip abroad with Morehouse's Division of Business Administration and Economics. The world business "Spring Tour" gives scholars an opportunity to network with leaders of major international corporations such as Bloomberg, the financial information and software giant, and automotive manufacturer BMW. The group also will meet with Morehouse College alumni working abroad and visit U.S. Embassies in Europe. "Our visit to the embassy in Berlin will be facilitated by a Morehouse alum," said Douglas Cooper, director of career placement for Morehouse's Division of Business Administration. "We have met Morehouse alum in business in foreign service throughout the world." The dozen students selected to represent Morehouse during the international business tour completed a rigorous screening process. They had to be nominated by a faculty member, interviewed, and screened for academic requirements. The finalists also had to write a 10-to-15-page research paper analyzing Brexit-the British vote to leave the European Union, an economic and political partnership of 28 countries. The "Spring Tour" is in its 31st year. Since the program's inception, students have visited business centers in every continent from Athens, Greece to Dubai, Cooper said. "The intent is to give students a sense of how business is practiced overseas and to allow them to see some of the cultural differences and similarities that exist in different countries," Cooper said. "This is exposure that they wouldn't otherwise get, and it is all supported and funded through our corporate partners."
