Bowie State’s Accredited MPA Program Honored for Quality & Affordability

Bowie State University’s accredited Master of Public Administration (MPA) programhttps://bowiestate.edu/academics/colleges/college-of-business/departments/management-marketing-and-public-administration/mpa-program/index.php earned spots on two national rankings of public affairs programs that affirm both its high academic quality and affordability.

U.S. News and World Report ranked the MPA program on its Best Public Affairs Program listhttps://www.usnews.com/best-graduate-schools/top-public-affairs-schools/public-affairs-rankings, and the NoGRE.com selected it as Maryland’s #1 MPA program on its list of the Best-Priced Accredited MPA Programshttps://nogre.com/best-priced-naspaa-accredited-mpa-programs-with-zero-entrance-exam-requirements/, with no entrance exam requirements. Accredited by the Network of Schools of Public Policy, Affairs, and Administration (NASPAA), the MPA program prepares students for successful careers as leaders in government, special interests/lobbying groups, nonprofit and professional organizations.

“I consider our rankings the beginning of the MPA program’s positive recognition in this region,” said Dr. David Abrahamshttps://bowiestate.edu/directories/faculty-and-staff-directory/dabrahams.php, MPA program coordinator and chairperson of the Department of Management, Marketing & Public Administration. “It is a motivating force for us to continue our Race to Excellence in the field of public service.”

The U.S. News & World Report list ranks master’s degree programs in public affairs solely based on peer assessments of academic quality. Appearing on the list for the first time in 2019, the Bowie State program ranked among the first half of the nation’s top 550 programs. The NoGRE.com site ranked Bowie State’s MPA as the state’s best for quality and value among NASPAA-accredited programs that do not require an entrance exam. It also found that Bowie State’s MPA students save an average of about $7,300 compared to MPA students attending other Maryland public schools programs, while receiving the same high-quality education.

The MPA program continues to expand its reach in the region with enhanced student recruitment through community partnerships. "We are partnering with federal agencies to provide certification, recertification and continuing education points for their employees and our students,” he added.

National rankings, especially ones that highlight specific academic programs, help to increase awareness and certify the quality of Bowie State’s quality educational experience.
