UMES hosts Health and Wellness Festival
The University of Maryland Eastern Shore welcomes the community to attend its 17th annual Health and Wellness Festival March 25.
The free wellness event takes place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Student Services Center ballroom on campus.
"Some 400 participants of all ages take advantage of this vital community service each year," said Janet Mutschler, director of clinical education for UMES' Department of Physical Therapy.
"Over 60 exhibitors representing community agencies, health organizations, the university and area businesses, will promote healthy living and prevention through informational displays and screenings," said Lauresa Wigfall, event chair and director of the university's Alcohol, Tobacco and Other Drugs Prevention Program-one of the event sponsors.
Free screenings include blood pressure, blood glucose, hearing, fitness, body composition, strength, flexibility and posture, said Wigfall.  Participants, she said, can also take part in interactive demonstrations throughout the day.
