DSU Faculty Invest In Teaching
Ten DSU faculty continued their commitment to excellence in teaching by attending the 16th Annual Faculty Conference on Teaching Excellence on Wednesday, January 10, at Temple University.
In its 16th year, the conference provides opportunities for faculty in the region to learn about new approaches to inclusive excellence, academic innovation, and ultimately student success.
According to Dr. Brody Bluemel, "the conference provided innovative insight into how to improve student and classroom experience through new and best teaching practices and presenting new and incredible resources and methods."
Dr. Freeman Hrabowski, UMBC president, was the inspirational plenary speaker with detailed direction on how to help students to grow not just as learners, but also as citizens and individuals.
Breakout sessions included growing student efficacy to meet course expectations, formative assessments to provide feedback and build confidence, creating community in online courses and engaging students in co-curricular activities and providing undergraduate research opportunities.
