Dr. Julianne Malveauxhttp://www.juliannemalveaux.com/, former president of Bennett College for women, will discuss strategies for bridging the gender gap in the workplace at the University System of Maryland (USM) Women's Forum's conference at Bowie State University.

The 24th annual conference, focusing on the theme of "Bridging the Gap," will take place Friday, Nov. 14 from 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. in the Student Center, Wiseman Ballroom.

"The USM Women's Forum conference provides a great opportunity for female students, faculty and staff to interact with some of the most accomplished women professionals in their fields and learn successful practices to succeed in the workplace," said Nicol King, BSU training and development coordinator, who is this year's conference chair.

You can register for the conference online.https://www.eventbrite.com/e/usm-womens-forum-2014-conference-bridging-the-gap-registration-12870434817 The cost is for $35 BSU students, $85 USM members, and $115 non-USM members.

As president of Bennett College, Dr. Malveaux focused on women's leadership, entrepreneurship, excellence in communications, and global awareness. She led America's oldest historically black college for women to receive a 10-year reaffirmation of its accreditation from the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, enjoy an historic enrollment high in 2009, and launch a $21 million capital improvements program - the first major campus construction in more than 25 years.
Morning breakout sessions will focus on empowering women in the workplace and managing your personal and professional finances. Guest speakers include women entrepreneurs, business leaders and communications experts. One speaker is Lisa Smith, executive director of the Bowie Business Innovation Center, the business incubator located in Bowie State's Center for Business and Graduate Studies. Conference participants can also receive one-on-one coaching in a speed mentoring session, with the goal of building connections with professional women.
Presenters will be introduced by BSU's top women leaders: General Counsel and Executive Vice President Karen Shaheed, Chief of Staff Tammi Thomas, Director of University Relations and Marketing Cassandra Robinson and College of Education Dean Traki Taylor-Webb.
