Top CCC Career & Technical Education Students to Compete

CLARKSDALE – Seventeen top students enrolled in Coahoma Community College’s Career and Technical Education Division will be traveling to Jackson Feb. 26-27 to compete in the 2013 SkillsUSA Mississippi Championship, according to Shelia Sanders, CCC support service and Skills USA coordinator.

Wearing their signature red jackets, students will be competing in written tests and demonstrations of expertise in their fields.

“Our students will be competing in welding, brick block masonry, collision repair, culinary arts, commercial baking, computer servicing and maintenance, and early childhood education, says Sanders.

“Last year, one of our students was so impressive, he was offered a job in Jackson following graduation, and he’s working there now,” continued Sanders.

National Skills USA Week is being celebrated on campus Feb. 10-16. For event information, view www.coahomacc.edu.
