FSU Partners with Rooms to Go to Establish Reading Centers
Rooms To Go, the nation's number one independent furniture company, understands the importance of being in an environment that is conducive to learning. That's why the furniture giant has partnered with Fayetteville State University (FSU) to establish Reading for Excellence Centers at residence halls on campus.
This initiative by Rooms To Go grew from a commitment by the organization to promote literacy. From research, the organization found that a number of colleges and universities were moving forward with Quality Enhancement Programs (QEP) which includes an element designed to promote greater literacy among students. To this end, the QEP was being aggressively pursued and coincided with plans Rooms To Go announced nearly two years ago to establish Reading for Excellence Centers in residence halls at Historically Black Colleges and University (HBCU) campuses located in Rooms To Go marketplaces.
At FSU, the centers will be established in Bryant, Joyner, and Renaissance halls. On September 26, 2014, at 10 a.m., FSU and representatives from Rooms To Go and Phoenix One Enterprise, facilitators of the program, will be on hand for a revealing and ribbon-cutting of the donated furniture for the Reading Excellence Centers. The event is open to the public.
"Fayetteville State University is most appreciative to Rooms To Go for its support of our students and students at HBCUs nationwide," said Holly Holiday-Jones, Director of Residence Life at FSU. "As a result of the generosity of Rooms to Go, FSU students not only will be able to read in a comfortable environment in their residence halls, but their overall learning experiences also will be enhanced."
FSU is a constituent institution of The University of North Carolina and the second-oldest public institution of higher education in the state. FSU offers nearly 60 degrees at the bachelor's, master's, and doctoral levels. With nearly 6,000 students, Fayetteville State University is among the most diverse institutions in the nation.
Founded in 1991, Rooms To Go has grown into America's top independent furniture company with the nation's largest furniture inventory. By offering stylish furniture at everyday low prices, original room packages, superior service and fast delivery, today Rooms To Go is America's favorite place to buy furniture.
Rooms To Go introduced the concept of displaying and packaging furniture in complete room settings. The company's designers coordinate each room's colors, fabrics and accessories to the last detail, so customers don't have to. This approach affords customers a simplified shopping experience and increased savings when buying an entire room.
