Hampton University News September 29, 2017 Hampton University Gets Accolades in Prestigious Wall Street Journal Annual Rankings Hampton University is the top Hampton Roads college or university in the 2017 Wall Street Journal/Times Higher Education Ranking of U.S. Colleges released this week. The Wall Street Journal ranked 1,061 institutions in six areas that includes salaries of graduates and value for money spent. Hampton University ranked ahead of every Hampton Roads college or university as well as 191st nationally. "Parents and students choose Hampton University because of our high-quality education, our emphasis on building character and the ability to find a great job or get accepted at a top-notch graduate program," said Hampton University President Dr. William R. Harvey. "The Wall Street Journal's methodology is solid, and it's exciting they find that we are among the best in Virginia and in the country." Only the University of Virginia, Washington and Lee, College of William and Mary, University of Richmond and Virginia Tech ranked ahead of Hampton University in the Commonwealth. This ranking is the latest on a long list of publications singing praises for Hampton University in 2017. Earlier in September, US News & World Report's annual college rankings placed Hampton University third among HBCU's as well as No. 14 for veterans and 21st among regional universities in the south. Money Magazine named Hampton University on its list of top colleges and universities. In The Princeton Review's annual report on colleges, Hampton University was named a Best Regional College as well. Online College Plan named Hampton University a top-10 HBCU with online programs, and Affordable Colleges Online ranked Hampton University a top 5 online school in Virginia. SANDRA M.
