Mary Hill Inducted into Tuskegee Nursing Hall of Fame
Howard University Assistant Provost and Professor of Nursing Mary Hill, Ph.D., R.N., was recently inducted into the inaugural Tuskegee University Nursing Hall of Fame.
The Nursing Hall of Fame celebrates the accomplishments of nursing leaders for outstanding contributions to nursing education, research and practice. The ceremony took place at Tuskegee on March 29. Hill was recognized alongside 16 other leaders in the field.
Throughout her career, Hill has championed diversity in nursing education and in the workforce by helping disadvantaged students. In 2010, Hill garnered a $1.5 million grant from the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services for scholarships for needy students in nursing and allied health sciences.
At Howard, Hill has served as interim dean of the College of Nursing and Allied Health Sciences and associate dean for the Division of Nursing. She has held senior faculty positions at Tuskegee, Columbia University, Adelphi University and Downstate University.
Hill received a bachelor's degree in nursing from Tuskegee, a master's degree in nursing from the University of Maryland and a doctorate in nursing from the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
