Claflin University Ranked No. 1 in Alumni Giving Percentage by U.S. News and World Report's Short List
Claflin University's leadership in alumni giving was recognized in a recent U.S. News and World report Short List article.  Claflin is ranked No.1 with a 48.9 percent alumni giving rate during the two-year period of 2012-13 and 2013-14.  The report is based on the 48 HBCUs that submitted data to U.S. News in an annual survey.

Bennett College is right behind Claflin with an average of 38.2 percent of alumni who donated during a two-year period. The rest of the top ten were:  Spelman College (37.4 percent); Tuskegee University (25.1 percent); Fisk University (23.9 percent); Livingstone College (23.8 percent); Johnson C. Smith University 16.3 percent); Tougaloo College (16 percent); Morehouse College (15.5 percent); and Fort Valley State University (14.percent).

"Our Number 1 ranking means that Claflin alumni are satisfied with the high-quality education we are providing" said Claflin President Henry N. Tisdale.  "It reflects the generosity of our alumni but it indicates also that they are pleased with their investment in Claflin.  They understand the importance of alumni giving so Claflin can continue to graduate visionary leaders with global perspectives.  Our ranking re-positions the institution and enhances the Claflin brand," added Tisdale.

Claflin reached a historic plateau in 2013 with its 52.2 percent alumni giving rate. The University ranks among the leaders at all colleges and universities in this category.  Claflin launched a $96.4 million campaign a few years ago. The campaign goal is now $100 million with $98.7 million having been raised.  Funds from the campaign provide scholarships for deserving students, support faculty development and new construction.
