Florida A&M University News May 22, 2020 FAMU Issues Statement About Fall Reopening Plans "We want to be thoughtful and flexible, while cautious, in moving forward," said President Larry Robinson, Ph.D. Florida A&M University (FAMU), like our sister institutions in the State University System (SUS), is working diligently on plans to prepare for the fall semester. These plans must be approved by the FAMU Board of Trustees before being presented to the Florida Board of Governors (FBOG) for approval. The FBOG is establishing a framework that recognizes the uniqueness of each university while establishing guidelines common to all 12 institutions. With that in mind, it is important to recognize that each campus community has an extraordinary environment that includes students from all regions of the state, nation, and world. The FAMU "Hill" experience is especially unique and the University is doing all it can to ensure that the campus operates in a manner that prioritizes the health and wellbeing of the entire campus community- including students, faculty, staff, vendors, volunteers, and visitors. On Thursday, May, 21, 2020, during a Board of Trustee conference call meeting, the University leadership unveiled a working plan to bring back students to campus. This plan requires flexibility to the changing circumstances as we adjust to the ever-evolving realities of the COVID-19 pandemic. During the conference call meeting, BOT members asked questions and provided recommendations that will be included in the development of the University's plan over the next several days. The University has made no decisions regarding athletics, homecoming and other major fall on-campus activities.
