Greetings Colleagues, I trust you're well. Today I'm celebrating sculptor and educator Augusta Christine Savage. Born in 1892 in Green Cove Spring Florida, Savage was the seventh of fourteen children of Cornelia and Edward Fells. In 1932, she established the Savage Studio of Arts and Crafts and became an influential teacher in Harlem. In 1934 Savage became the first African-American member of the National Association of Women Painters and Sculptors.
