The National Association of Schools of Music (NASM) Commission on Accreditation notified Grambling State University that its accreditation is in effect as of June 2014. "As an accredited institutional member of NASM, the institution was reminded of its responsibility to participate in reviews and revisions to the NASM Handbook, and to maintain its operations and programs current with NASM standards as these are developed and approved," notes the letter from Executive Director, Karen Moynahan.
I am elated that we have been reaffirmed for another 10 years with the National Association of Schools of Music, which is not a Cadillac accreditation it's a Rolls Royce accreditation. The department for the next 10 years will remain a nationally accredited music department," states Dr. Larry Pannell, Department Head, Band Director and Associate Professor.
The music departments' next full review will be in 2022-2023 academic year. The Commission commended Grambling State University for its collegial and dedicated faculty and staff who are committed to the institutional mission and to nurturing student learning. The commission also went on to say, "The Department of Music also fosters strong positive connections with the campus and greater community through both academic programming and through personal relationships initiated by faculty and student outreach activities."
