Fayetteville State University (FSU) is the nation's top HBCU for military-connected students, providing a premier education at an affordable price thanks in part to its Military Tuition Scholarship<https://www.uncfsu.edu/fayetteville-state-university-announces-tuition-free-scholarships-for-military-connected-students>, which provides free tuition for all military-affiliated students. Now, a new UNC System regulation, signed by System President Peter Hans on May 26, will ensure that military students at UNC System institutions will be consistently awarded credit for their training. "In the past, we have missed out on the chance to serve talented military students because our credit policies weren't easy to parse, or weren't as generous as those of our peers," Hans said. "Hundreds of faculty and administrators have worked to correct that problem, and I applaud their dedication." The UNC System serves more than 21,000 veterans and active-duty personnel and has recently launched a campaign to expand its reach among military-affiliated students. This new regulation applies to all 16 universities in the UNC System, ensuring that military students receive equivalent types of credit for their experience, regardless of which public university they attend. "We want to make it as easy as possible for these dedicated Americans to build a life and a career in our state," Hans said. "Providing a world-class education is the best way to do that, and I'm proud of the steps we're taking to connect military students with our public universities." Per the regulation, the UNC System will form a database that permits military-affiliated students and university personnel to quickly determine the appropriate credit and apply it accordingly.
