CAU Kicks off National Tour: Martha's Vineyard

Clark Atlanta University is excited to kick off its 30th Anniversary CAU Nation National City Tour. This tour begins a yearlong celebration of innovative history and a promising future for Clark Atlanta University.

CAU NATION is a multicity event hosted by Alumni, Board of Trustees, local high profile Influencers and Friends of CAU in targeted cities across the country. Each stop on the tour celebrates CAU's 30th Anniversary while raising funds for the President's Student Scholarship Fund.

The fund enables Clark Atlanta University to Lift Every Voice and Ignite New Possibilities by providing support for prospective students.

Martha's Vineyard African American residents and visitors have long been a significant force in the island's philanthropic, technological, hospitality, and art communities, making Martha's Vineyard the largest Black resort in the U.S. It was only befitting to kick off the tour in such an historic place as Martha's Vineyard.

The celebratory weekend was launched with the annual Forward Forum. The historical event was developed from Atlanta University's traditional public forum organized by the legendary W.E.B. DuBois (1896 to 1914), the CAU Forward Forum is an intimate and open discussion with some of the leading voices that are helping to shape the world in business, culture, politics, and more. The event was attended by over 300 guest made up of board members, alumni, faculty and staff, and supporting friends.

This year the guest were honored with the presence of three powerhouse woman. These women have served as major trailblazers in the African American community as well as in the world.
Keisha Lance Bottom, First African American Woman to serve as Mayor of Atlanta, GA.
Stacey Abram, First African American Woman to be an official Candidate for Georgia Governor.
Gayle King, American television personality and journalist.

The momentous occasion concluded with the Martha's Vineyard reception, an exclusive networking and fundraising event hosted by CAU President Ronald A. Johnson, Ph. D at Farm Neck Golf Club. The reception served to engage, enlighten and inspire attendees to support scholarships for prospective CAU students. Guest enjoyed food, fun, and a powerful speech from Chaka Pilgrim who is the head of Music and Film at Sean Carter Enterprises.

The CAU Nation Tour will continue throughout the year. The next stop is the windy city of Chicago, Illinois.
