Reference/Distance Services Librarian

POSITION NUMBER: FA278

HIRING SALARY RANGE: Salary will be commensurate with education and experience

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  This position reports to the Associate Librarian for Public Services and provides general and specialized reference services to Library users; and provides leadership to integrate library resources into a distance education program; serves as coordinating librarian for distance learning services; develops materials in support of online learning; cooperatively maintains library web pages and social media for distance learning.  The Reference/Distance Services Librarian will assist with general orientation sessions and course integrated instruction to develop information literacy competencies.  Also, assist in collection development and evaluation for designated departments; participates in reference/information desk duty; works an evening and rotating weekend assignment.  This position will also require the supervision and training of student assistants.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:  Master's degree in Library/Information Science from an ALA-accredited program is required.  Considerable experience working in Reference Services; knowledge of current and emerging trends in instructional technologies, electronic resources and emerging technologies; experience using distance learning technologies such as Blackboard, WebCT or Moodle; experience using Microsoft Office Suite is required; excellent organizational, analytical, and interpersonal communication skills are required; commitment to great customer service; ability to work cooperatively and adapt to new technologies; experience working in an academic library is required; must be available and willing to work a flexible schedule, to include one evening a week and rotating weekend schedule.
