Prairie View A&M University News January 9, 2019 STUDY TEXAS CHAIR EVIE MYERS TRAVELS TO CHINA TO EXPAND OPPORTUNITIES FOR PVAMU As part of an effort to promote Study Texas and further opportunities for PVAMU students and faculty alike, special advisor to the president at PVAMU and board chair of Study Texas Evie Myers traveled to China. Study Texas is a group of about 40 schools that serve with the goal of increasing the number of international students in the state of Texas obtaining opportunities to study abroad, as well as bringing in international students to pursue educational opportunities at Texas institutions. The goal of Myers' trip was to promote Study Texas and further opportunities for its members to engage with Chinese institutions and students. During her trip, Myers attended a conference for the National Center for Schooling Development Programme, which was supported by both the Shandong Provincial Education Department and Zaozhuang University in Zaozhuang in the Shandong Province. At the conference, Myers gave a keynote speech at the China-foreign Cooperation Program Forum titled "Opportunities and Challenges of China-U.S. University Cooperation." The conference was held Nov. 16-17. The purpose of conference was to explore how to promote the innovation and upgrading of the Industry-Education Integration Model. While at the conference, Myers also signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on behalf of Study Texas with Global Advanced Technical Education (GATE). "Our goal by doing this is for GATE to match Texas institutions such as PVAMU with a like school in China to create opportunities for students to study abroad, as well as research opportunities for faculty or visiting scientists," Myers said.
