Claflin Alumnus is Winner of Emmy Award

Claflin Alumnus is Winner of Emmy Award
Mr. Steven Dial,'11, was recently awarded the Suncoast Regional Emmy as a reporter for First Coast News (WTLV -TV) Jacksonville, FL. He won this Emmy for his story- "Winning at All Cost."
Dial joined First Coast News in June 2015 as a multimedia journalist. He comes to First Coast News from its sister station WLTX in Columbia, South Carolina.
During his time in news, Steven covered several breaking news stories like the mass shooting at Emanuel A.M.E. Church in Charleston, South Carolina and the tragic loss of 33 crew members aboard the Jacksonville ship, El Faro.
Steven received a Regional Edward R. Murrow Award for his investigation of how safe South Carolina high school football helmets were. The story resulted in hundreds of unsafe and outdated helmets being removed from South Carolina schools.
He graduated from Claflin University in 2011 with a Bachelor's degree in Mass Communications. While at Claflin, Steven served as the Student Government Association President.
